Another Taznakht Berber rug, all handwoven, all wool, a great piece for indoors. This rug was purchased from an old man on our way back from Ourzazate to Marrakesh.
The wool is died with a process that has been traditionally employed by Moroccans. As long as you take care of the carpet, the colors will not visibly fade.
This is a magnificent hand-knotted & it is handmade, wool moroccan double-sided carpet or rug created by berber women in the atlas mountains - Morocco.
The general design is quilt-like, with two pairs of columns of alternating squares on each row. Each large square design in the main canton appears twice. It was loomed to look like stained glass windows. The internal border work is outstanding as is the outside border and the fringe. The colors are rich, vibrant, exquisite and varied.
